Horse Boarding
The Village Club has facilities to board 27 horses in stalls and at least 8 horses in the paddock area. There is a waiting list for both the stalls and paddock areas, and new members interested in boarding should give a written request to the manager to put their name on the waiting list. Boarding includes daily feeding of hay and grain, rotating turnout for the stall horses, stall cleaning for the stall horses (every other day), and blanketing as needed. Supplements and other special care are charged separately. For specific information about boarding fees, contact the Club manager or the barn chair.
Boarding
- Members interested in boarding a horse at The Village Club should notify the Barn Chair or Manager in writing that they wish to be placed on the wait list for a stall or pasture space. The notification should specify their desire to be placed on either the wait list for stall space or the wait list for pasture space, or a member may specify "first available". If a member specifies stall space, then such member's name will be placed on the stall list; if a member specifies pasture space, such member's name will be placed on the pasture list; if a member specifies "first available", then such member's name will be placed on both lists. If a member's name is on both the pasture list and the stall list, and the member is first offered a pasture space, such member may choose to initially board his or her horse in the pasture and keep their name on the stall list, and transfer the horse from the pasture to a stall when their name comes up on the stall list. Members on any wait list are shown in the order of the date on which their written request is received.
- Members on any wait list may pass on an available stall or pasture space a maximum number of two times. After the second pass, they may elect to either rotate to the bottom of the applicable wait list with a new posting date, or be removed from the list entirely.
- A secondary wait list will be automatically maintained by the Barn Chair to allow stall holders the opportunity to move to more desirable stalls. Stall vacancies will be filled as follows: when a horse leaves a front stall, the then longest term stall holder on the back side of the barn will be given the option to move to the new space on the front. The vacant stall will then be offered to the next longest term stall holder on the back side of the barn. After this process is complete, the then vacant stall will be offered in order to the members on the stall wait list until a member accepts the stall. If a stall in the stone building becomes available, it will be offered to the longest term stall holder on the front side of the barn until accepted.
- The boarding fee for a stall is $380 per month; for a pasture space it is $275 per month. The fee includes feed, hay, turnout, blanketing, and stable management. Any supplements provided by the club and fed at an owners request will be charged in addition to the above rates.
- A maximum of two horses is allowed per membership. For purposes of this limitation, ownership of a horse boarded at any facility where members are charged by the Village Club for feeding and other services will be considered as a horse counted toward the two horse limitation.
- There shall be no more than 15 horses at any one time in the paddock arena, provided, however, that in the event of extraordinary circumstances in the nature of an emergency, the manager of the club may increase this number for a reasonable period of time. Of these 15 spaces for horses, no more than seven may be used for the boarding of school horses. There are 28 stalls, one of which is reserved for school horse needs.
- As a service to members, and to the extent possible, The Village Club will feed and blanket horses and periodically clean the paddock areas for horses kept on adjoining property. The fee is $260 per month, not including supplements. Additional stable management services should be arranged outside of the club.
- A stall or pasture space may remain empty/unused for a maximum of 6 consecutive months, at which point the owner must release it to the next member on the wait list.
- The Village Club owns the stalls and pasture spaces which are made available to the members, and such use must be in accordance with the terms and conditions set forth in these rules and the boarding agreement presented by the Village Club to a member in connection with such use. The Village Club does not permit its stalls or pasture spaces to be sub-let, and does not permit any other kind of arrangement which has a result similar to subletting. It is the intention of these rules to set up a fair and equitable process in the allocation of stalls and pasture spaces, and any arrangement that circumvents that intention will not be permitted. In general, the following will be considered permissible uses of the Village Club's stalls and pasture spaces: to board a horse owned by the member assigned to the space; a legitimate co-ownership/co-use arrangement where one of the co-owners is assigned to the space; a legitimate lease of a horse where the lessee is assigned to the space. In the case of any other arrangement, the member proposing such arrangement should make a written proposal to the Village Club board, which will consider the arrangement in light of the intention of these rules, and advise the member whether such arrangement will be permitted.
- Tack rooms are for the exclusive use of current stall/pasture holders. Items owned by previous boarders will be held for a maximum of 30 days, at which point they will be donated or sold for the benefit of the schooling program. Non-boarding members who ride regularly may use the tack rooms on a space available basis.
- Unless requested otherwise, The Village Club will arrange routine veterinary care such as spring and fall shots. Owners will be billed accordingly by Littleton Large Animal Clinic.
- Owners are expected to privately arrange farrier work. A list of farriers is available in the office.
Horse Trailer Parking
Nine horse trailer parking spaces are available for rent to members at a rate of $50 per month. Should the number of members desiring to rent a space exceed the number of spaces available, the club will maintain a wait list similar to the stall/pasture wait list. Those at the top of the list may pass twice on an available space before being rotated down to the bottom. Spaces may not remain empty for more than 90 days. Trailers are parked on Village Club grounds at the owners own risk.
